The SPCA Jockey Club Centennial Centre in Tsing Yi, totalling approximately 8,700 sqm of GFA, was the most important project for SPCA’s 100th anniversary in 2022. WT is providing full quantity surveying services for this project which aims to comfortably accommodate variety of service functions and facilities of the NGO and supporting its future work in animal welfare in Hong Kong. The centre is expected to be completed by end of 2023.
The new building comprises a 5-storey animal welfare and education centre, housing various facilities such as animal boarding, a veterinary clinic, VSD area, surgery area, conference room, seminar room, community space, adoption area, grooming area, café, retail, office, toilets, E&M rooms and more.
“We have been very proud to work on this project since its inception. The whole project team has worked together very well to bring this project to reality, and it will be a major asset to SPCA’s ongoing role in Hong Kong’s animal welfare.” said Mark Van Beers, Managing Director of WT Hong Kong & Macau.
The expansion project is reacting to the increasing number of rescued animals and space limits of the current centres across Hong Kong. Upon the completion of the new building, at least 1,200 more animals will be able to be rehomed each year, an additional 25,000 visitors will be able to participate in educational talks and visits provided by the organisation, and the distance for SPCA’s inspectors to respond to calls from the New Territories will be shortened by 15-20 minutes via the nearby Route 3 and the Tai Lam Tunnel.
“We appreciate WT’s professional quantity surveying consultancy service for our SPCA Jockey Club Centennial Central project. Their guidance has been invaluable in navigating the various stages of the project, from the early design phase to the tendering process, through to the construction phase, and finally the handover. Martin Woo has been instrumental in providing us with exceptional support and expertise in managing all contractual and financial aspects of the project. Hence, we are confident that the project will be completed within its approved budget with their team’s continuous support.” Lydia Cheung, Project Manager of SPCA Hong Kong remarked.
