Project Description:
In 2021, WT was appointed to provide comprehensive Quantity Surveying and Cost Management services for three new greenfield Data Centers in Thailand for a prominent US-based online retail and cloud services provider.
These hyperscale Data Centers, strategically located along the Eastern Economic Corridor, encompass a combined gross floor area of approximately 30,000m2, with each facility’s first phase covering around 10,000m2.
Each project is designed to support an IT load of 16MW, totaling 48MW across multiple phases for the three separate projects. Future phases are currently under consideration. The first phases of these projects were successfully completed in 2024.
The rollout marked several industry firsts for Thailand’s Data Center and Digital Infrastructure sector, including simultaneous multi-site developments. This approach allowed WT to unique insights into managing costs effectively across a broad range of vendors and LLE suppliers concurrently delivering identical scopes of work. Additionally, the innovative contracting model employed progressive packaging and contract structures, resulting in flexibility and efficiencies in cost management. These measures led to significant savings in the final accounts of theses initial phases, ultimately benefiting the Data Center Owner and providing a strong case for re-use on future phases of the projects.
