Energy Australia are proposing to develop a 225MW pumped hydro scheme near Port Augusta in SA, which will further increase the energy storage capacity within the state. The scope of the project may include high level and low level dams with connecting large diameter pipelines, the turbine hall and power station which may be largely underground, the high voltage connection to the transmission grid, and all associated civil and engineering works.
WT were approached by a consortium developing concept design options and advised providing capital cost estimates for multiple options as the team honed the efficiency of the concept design. The scope covered by WT included heavy civil engineering, specialist building construction, the pipelines and dams, substations, high voltage transmission lines and switchgear, and roads, buildings, and other ancillary construction.
