WT was proud to support the HKIS Quantity Surveying Division Conference 2026 as a Gold Sponsor, contributing to industry discussions on the future of the quantity surveying profession.
Held on 3 October 2026 at CIC-Zero Carbon Park, this year’s conference, themed “Transforming QS Practice in a New Era: Integrating Digital Construction, Collaborative Contracting and Payment Security”, brought together industry leaders from across the public and private sectors to examine the changing landscape of construction procurement and project delivery.
WT’s Deputy Director, Candy Yau, moderated Session 1, Collaborative Contracting, leading a discussion with an esteemed panel of industry representatives:
- Francis Leung Lap Ki, Team Leader (Trade & Procurement), Development Bureau
- Hayman Choi Wing Chung, Project Strategy and Delivery Leader (Asia), Mott MacDonald Hong Kong Limited
- Cheuk-lun Leung, NEC Strategic Advisor, Civil Engineering and Development Department
- Yanhua Wang, Chairman and Managing Director, China Road and Bridge Corporation (Hong Kong)
The session explored how collaborative contracting models are reshaping the delivery of construction projects by fostering greater alignment between clients, consultants and contractors, while improving transparency, risk management and project outcomes.
A recurring theme throughout the discussion was the growing adoption of collaborative procurement strategies, including NEC contracts, and the opportunities these approaches present for improving value for money, strengthening stakeholder relationships and enhancing project performance.
The panel also highlighted the evolving role of quantity surveyors within these delivery models. As projects become increasingly complex and integrated, quantity surveyors are being called upon to move beyond traditional cost control functions to become trusted commercial advisers and facilitators of project success.
Drawing on extensive experience from both public and private sector projects, the speakers discussed the importance of early stakeholder engagement, shared project objectives, transparent commercial practices and timely decision-making in achieving successful outcomes. The discussion also acknowledged the challenges associated with cultural change and the need for industry-wide adoption of more collaborative behaviours and practices.
Commenting on the event, Candy noted the value of bringing together diverse perspectives from across the industry to exchange ideas and explore approaches that can help drive positive change within the profession.
As the construction sector continues to evolve through new technologies, procurement models and delivery methods, WT remains committed to supporting conversations that advance industry best practice and contribute to better project outcomes.
WT congratulates the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors Quantity Surveying Division on hosting another successful conference and extends thanks to all speakers, panellists and attendees for their valuable contributions.
